Sibelle is my second crochet design and a sister to Etheria. It is worked in “jaygo” (join-as-you-go) motifs, Sibelle takes the humble granny square to a new level, highlighting the beauty and subtle variegation of Shalimar Yarns Paulie in the Adobe colorway.

The individual pattern is available for purchase in pdf format for $6.

Or as part of the Light and Lacy Cowls ebook for $9.

1 skein Shalimar Yarns Paulie in “Adobe”; 420 yds / 384m per 3.5oz / 100g; 60% Merino, 20% Camel, 10% Silk, 10% Cashmere.

Cowl requires approximately 300 yds / 275 m of fingering weight yarn when worked at specified gauge.

hooks & notions
US D (3.25 mm) crochet hook
OR size necessary to make gauge darning needle

Each Sibelle Motif is 5” / 12.5 cm square without border, after blocking.

Gauge is not crucial for this project, but it is necessary to check gauge if you do not have significant excess yarn to compensate for any gauge variances. The pattern is suitable for a range of yarn weights, but the yardage given is calculated using fingering weight yarn. Finished size and required yardage will vary with gauge and yarn weight.

Each Sibelle Motif is worked individually in the round. Each motif is joined to the previous one on one side as the final round of the second motif is worked. The last motif is joined to the preceding motif and to the first motif. Once the final motif has been worked, a picot border is crocheted around each edge.
